Fingerprints for Canadian Citizenship Application
To acquire Canadian citizenship, you must have permanent resident status, lived
in Canada for 3 out of last 5 years, and have passed the language test and tests
on your rights, responsibilities, and knowledge of Canada. Canadians are allowed
dual citizenship and it is common for Canadians to have dual citizenship with
other countries.
Police certificates are commonly requested by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for all countries that the applicant has resided for more than 6 months while they are over the age of 18. If you lived in Canada for more than 6 months, you may be asked for fingerprints to complete your police certificate by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
